IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
It’s that time of year when many of us will be spending time with family and friends over the Holidays, reflecting on life and looking ahead to the New Year. It’s also a time when some of us get to enjoy part of the season in the Sunshine State.
Every time that I am in Orlando during the AKC National Championship, I feel so much happiness. I get to visit with many friends and clients with whom I get to laugh and celebrate their successes of the year.
I’m so affected by the energy and excitement of the place that I’m almost com- pelled to burst into song! But, knowing there are laws against noise pollution, I keep my joy to myself.
I usually arrive in Orlando on Thursday to spend as much time as possible with friends, and to hand-out a few thousand copies of our beautiful SHOWSIGHT at our booth. I also enjoy the grooming areas where the “famous” people hang-out. (Yes, I mean you and the real stars — our four-legged friends.) I really enjoy the chance to meet the dogs that I’ve only been able to see through pictures.
The “wonderfulness” of Orlando can be found in many different locations. If you have a little extra time to enjoy the city, head down to Winter Park. It’s known for its abundant outdoor spaces such as the leafy Central Park. Another great place to visit is the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art which showcases glass art by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Overlooking Lake Osceola, the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens displays works by the notable Czech-American art- ist. And, by Lake Virginia, Cornell Fine Arts Museum shows antiquities and con- temporary works. Walking the streets of Winter Park makes me feel like I am in one of those lovely towns in France. It’s simply extraordinary.
